Antoine Pesne, född 23 maj 1683 i Paris, Frankrike, död 5 augusti 1757 i Berlin, Preussen, var en fransk målare under rokokon. Pesne gick i lära hos sin far, målaren Thomas Pesne, samt hos Charles de la Fosse i Paris. Under åren 1705?C1710 företog han en resa i Italien och vistades huvudsakligen i Venedig, där han anslöt sig till Andrea Celesti, vars måleri tydligt påverkade Pesnes tidiga verk. 1710 kallades han av kung Fredrik I av Preussen till Berlin som hovmålare. Därefter företog han under de följande åren kortare resor till hoven i Dessau (1715), Dresden (1718), London (1723) och Paris (1724). 1733 utnämndes Pesne till ledare för konstakademin i Berlin. Han anses vara en viktig förmedlare av den franska konsten till Brandenburg-Preussen. Pesne var i huvudsak verksam som porträttmålare, men han utförde även talrika vägg- och takmålningar för Fredrik den store i de kungliga slotten. Ett av Pesnes mest berömda konstverk är Dansösen Barbara Campanini (cirka 1745). Detta porträtt med sin lätta och schvungfulla formgivning, det spontana penseldraget och de ljusa, pastelliknande färgerna är karakteristiskt för Pesnes arbeten och för rokokon i allmänhet. På ett virtuost sätt framställer Pesne den med tygblommor dekorerade sidenklänningen. Hans Baluschek
German, 1870-1935,German illustrator, painter, and writer, known for his graphic depictions of the proletarian milieu and hard life in big cities. Baluschek was also a renowned illustrator of fairy tales and produced superb illustrations for five books in the series Deutsche Marchenbucherei published by the Klemm Verlag between 1878 and 1923: Peterchens Mondfahrt (Little Peter's Flight to the Moon, 1915), Pips der Pilz. Ein Wald?\ und Weihnachtsmarchen (Pips the Mushroom: A Forest and Christmas Fairy Tale, 1920), Prinzessin Huschewind (Princess Hush Wind, 1922), and Ins Marchenland (Into Fairyland, 1922). He employed aquarelles and oils to form unusual and bizarre characters and also used ink to create the text.
Blarenberghe
was the name of a dynasty of painters, originally from French Flanders but the most famous descendants lived in Lille and Paris in France. They were all descendants from Joris van Blarenberghe (1612-1670). The first two painters were Hendrick van Blarenberghe (1646-1712) and his son Jacques-Guillaume van Blarenberghe (1679-1742). Their style was still heavily influenced by the Flemish Baroque style. Jacques-Guillaume had two painting sons, Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe (15 July 1716 - 1 May 1794) and Henri Desire van Blarenberghe (1734-1812). Louis-Nicolas had a son who was also a painter and with who he often collaborated: Henri-Joseph van Blarenberghe (24 November 1750 - 1 December 1826). Together with his father, they stayed at the Palace of Versailles, where they worked as miniaturists for the high society of their day. They were especially famous for their paintings on snuff boxes. Louis-Nicolas also worked as official campaign painter of the French court, following the French army as a war reporter. Two of his daughters, Catherine-Henriette and Isabelle, were chamber maids to the children of the French kings. The works of Louis-Nicolas and Henri-Joseph were collected in profusion in the 19th century by the Rothschild family. There is a collection of their work on public display at Waddesdon Manor. Henri-Joseph painted, besides the miniatures, mainly Panoramic paintings, often in gouache. The subjects were, as with his father, often military, and also included the French revolution.
